Emergency

I think we have an emergency
I think we have an emergency
If you thought I’d leave then you were wrong
Because I won’t stop holding on

So are you listening?
So are you watching me?

This is an emergency
So are you listening?
And I can’t pretend that I don’t see this

It’s really not your fault
And no one cares to talk about it
To talk about it

So you give up every chance you get
Just to feel new again

I think we have an emergency
I think we have an emergency

And you do your best to show me love
But you don’t know what love is

And no one cares to talk about it
To talk about it

Cause’ I’ve seen love die way too many times
When it deserved to be alive
I’ve seen you cry way too many times
When you deserved to be alive…ALIVE

These are some of the lyrics to a song called “Emergency” by one of my favorite bands, Paramore. I think that it has an amazing message.

So often we live life saying “Don’t talk about that!” “You can’t tell people your dealing with that!” “Are you kidding???? She did what??”

Many Christians create an environment that teaches you that you don’t ever talk about the dirty parts of life. The parts that your ashamed of. The parts that you know should be different. They pretend they don’t exist, and when someone decides they don’t care enough anymore, or it “gets out” what they have been doing or dealing with. Everyone goes “WHAT?!?!?!?!?”

However this is the exact opposite of Jesus Christ!

In John chapter 8, Jesus teaches an important lesson

3-5The religious scholars and Pharisees led in a woman who had been caught in an act of adultery. They stood her in plain sight of everyone and said, “Teacher, this woman was caught red-handed in the act of adultery. Moses, in the Law, gives orders to stone such persons. What do you say?” They were trying to trap him into saying something incriminating so they could bring charges against him.

6-8Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger in the dirt. They kept at him, badgering him. He straightened up and said, “The sinless one among you, go first: Throw the stone.” Bending down again, he wrote some more in the dirt.

9-10Hearing that, they walked away, one after another, beginning with the oldest. The woman was left alone. Jesus stood up and spoke to her. “Woman, where are they? Does no one condemn you?”

11No one, Master.”

“Neither do I,” said Jesus. “Go on your way. From now on, don’t sin.”

A verse that most Christian’s know “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” is forgotten.

Instead of condemning…LOVE! Jesus Christ was known for compassion and love. That is what helps people change. It gives them hope, makes feel worth something! They need someone to say “I won’t stop holding on!”

Because I personally have “seen love die way to many times when it deserve to be alive!”

I am so grateful to be apart of a church where LOVE WINS!

What a wonderful post – thank you so much. We all have ugly parts – all of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God – we can fake each other out but we can’t fake God out.

Thank you again for such a beautiful insightful post.

    Peace
